LEWISTON – City crews were working to contain a Sabattus Street water main break Wednesday afternoon.

The break occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, just west of Fairlawn Avenue.

Officials closed about 1,000 feet of Sabattus Street, between Holy Family Church and Russell Street, while crews worked to contain it, according to Dot Perham Wittier, the city’s community relations coordinator.
