FARMINGTON – The Healthy Community Coalition will offer “Get Off the Couch!,” a free session to provide home solutions to winter inactivity, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Free pedometers will be given to people who attend. At this seminar, the University of Maine at Farmington Health and Fitness Center staff will suggest activities and provide information about resources and classes at the Health and Fitness Center.

The Healthy Community Coalition staff will be on hand to talk about the free community indoor walking opportunities in Greater Franklin County and to present information on pedometers and how to use them. The session is part of the coalition’s free health-education series offered each month.

Light refreshments and child care will be available.

Upcoming programs in the monthly series will include: “Have a Tobacco-Free Valentine’s,” Feb. 10; “Herbs,” on how to use herbs to spice up meals, March 10; “Great Adventures in Your Own Backyard,” on places to hike, bike and ski in Maine, April 14; “Tobacco Industry Targets Our Children,” May 12; and “Fruits and Vegetables,” June 9. All begin at 7 p.m.
