PORTLAND – Jakub Klepis scored the game-winning goal as the Portland Pirates skated past the Springfield Falcons 2-1 Sunday.
Springfield (12-22-2-2) grabbed the lead in the first period as Steve McLaren tallied his first goal of the season with 1:12 remaining.
Portland (15-18-3-4) tied it when Brian Willsie scored 3:31 into the second, and Klepis had the game-winner at 7:05.
Maxime Ouellet made 17 saves for the Pirates. He has allowed only seven goals in four games against Springfield this season. Jaime Storr had 22 stops for Springfield.
