LEWISTON – Rita P. Gallant, 87, formerly of 20 Great Falls Plaza, Auburn, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, at Montello Commons in Lewiston, where she had been a resident for the past year.

Born in Auburn, on April 28, 1917, she was the daughter of Ernest and Louise Labbe Pare.

Educated locally, she was employed for many years as a bookkeeper and credit manager at the Sherwin-Williams paint store in Lewiston, retiring in 1980.

She was married to Morris Gallant, who passed away in 1985.

A member of Sacred Heart Parish, she was an avid reader, enjoyed shooting pool and loved to travel. She was always looking forward to her next adventure, and her faith allowed her to see the end of her own life as just the start of her next big adventure.

Survivors include a son, Ronald M. Gallant, of South Portland; a daughter, Cecilia M. Mathieu and husband, Maurice, of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
