WILTON – In honor of Maine Libraries Week, the Wilton Free Public Library will join other Maine libraries by making a donation to UNICEF’s tsunami relief fund.

All fines or funds from the library’s “conscience jars” received on Thursday, Jan. 13, will be donated to UNICEF, according to Wilton Librarian Vaughn Gagne. In addition, libraries will collect donations and forward them to UNICEF. Community members who would like to make a donation through the library’s collection are asked to make checks payable to “U.S. Fund for UNICEF.”

While many relief organizations are working to aid the victims of the tsunami, UNICEF was selected to receive these donations because of its focus on helping children and its reputable efforts worldwide.

More information about making donations may be obtained by calling the library at 645-4831.
