LEWISTON – Zenaide M. Couillard, 96, of 33 Roger St., Lewiston, died Monday morning Jan. 10, at Marshwood Nursing Home, following a long illness.
She was born in Frenchville, on Feb. 21, 1908 the daughter of Antoine and Marie (Ouellette) Dubois and had been a resident of this community since 1941.
She married Armand Couillard in 1925, and he died on December 26, 1974. She was a homemaker and worked for 10 years as a CNA at St. Mary’s hospital. She was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne at St. Mary’s Church, the Lewiston Senior Citizens and a parishioner of Holy Family Church.
She is survived by five sons, Larry Couillard and his wife, Marie, of Auburn, Roger Couillard and his wife, Evelyne, of Wales, Armand Couillard and his wife, Yvonne, of Lewiston, Eugene Couillard and his wife, Anita, of Lewiston and Normand Couillard and his wife, Irene, of Andersonville, N.C.; four daughters, Mildred Asselin of Lewiston, Omerine Desjardins and her husband, Leo, of Auburn, Jeanne Lachance of West Hill, Calif., and Jacqueline Fish of Rumford; one daughter-in-law Cecile Couillard of Lisbon; 44 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters Rose Martin of Lewiston, Martha Rossignol and her husband, Louis, of Lewiston, and Jeanne Labrecque of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one son, Roland Couillard; one daughter, Theresa Bussiere; and one granddaughter Jacqueline Willette.
