LEWISTON – Third-graders at Sherwood Heights in Auburn recently applauded the debut of their classmate Emily Schario in a student matinee performance of “A Christmas Carol” at The Public Theatre.

Following the post-show discussion, Emily’s classmates were treated to a special visit on stage with the actors, creating a memory of their first theatrical experience.

All student matinee performances of “A Christmas Carol” and “Celtic Christmas” were sold out, enabling more than 2,100 students from more than 20 area schools to experience professional theater at the price of $5 a ticket.

For more information on the Public Theatre’s educational programming or for tickets for upcoming student matinee performances of the bittersweet Irish comedy “Moonshine,” Tom Stoppard’s farce “Rough Crossing” and the Figures of Speech’s acclaimed production of “The Beanstalk Variations,” call the business office at 782-2211.
