SOUTH PARIS – Charles R. “Bob” Knight Jr., 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, at his residence on the Parsons Road, South Paris.
He was born March 14, 1930 in Stamford, Conn., a son of Charles and Lily (Gallop) Knight Sr. and had attended schools in Stamford, Conn.
Bob was a chef most of his life and managed the restaurant “Old MacDonald’s Farm” in Norwalk, Conn. for 20 years and then moved to Maine in 1972, where he owned and operated the “Chef’s Table” Restaurant and Catering Service in Norway for over 20 years, until retirement.
He was a member of Paris Lodge 94, AF and AM, a life member of Ark Mariners Oxford Lodge, member of Kora Temple Shrine, member of the Oxford County Shrine Club and a former member of the South Paris Lions Club.
He was married in Daytona, Fla., to the former Lois D. Mockler, who survives of South Paris. Other survivors include five daughters, Charleen Ripley and husband, Robert, of South Paris, Cindy Cruise and husband, John, of Taylorsville, Ky., Laurene Stenger and husband, John, of Norwalk, Conn., Carol Farley and companion, Arthur, of Norwalk, Conn., and Marcia King and husband, Richard, of Redding, Conn.; five sons, Charles R. Knight III of Westbrook, Daniel Knight and wife, Patricia, of Portland, Kim Knight of Gorham, Richard Knight of Saco and Glenn Pastore and wife, Anne, of Otisfield; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, June Howe and husband, Cecil, of Leesburg, Fla.; two brothers, Gilbert Knight and wife, Muriel, of Manchester, and Herbert Knight and wife, Veronica, of Norway; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Franklin and Ernest Knight.
