LEWISTON – Marion F. Strout, 86, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Marshwood Health Care Facility after a long period of declining health.

A longtime resident of Mechanic Falls, she was born in Bryant Pond on June 29, 1918, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Brooks) Felt. She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1935.

In 1937 she married Lawrence Strout. Much of her time during her early married life was spent working with youth at the 4H Club. She remained at home raising two children until 1955 when she embarked upon a secretarial career working in several area offices until her retirement from JW Penney and Sons after 22 years of service.

A devout Christian and 62 year member of the Advent Christian Church in Mechanic Falls, she served in many capacities. She was a Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and church clerk.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she took great pride in her family especially enjoying the youngest members. She relished being surrounded by her loved ones during holidays and family celebrations.

She had many special interests and hobbies which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. They included crocheting, knitting, reading, and cooking. She also had a love for the outdoors. She particularly enjoyed birds and was a plant enthusiast.

Survivors include her daughter, Delene Tucker and husband, Ed, of Mechanic Falls; her son, Dexter and wife, Charlene, of Portsmouth, N.H.; grandchildren, Cindy Cormier and husband, Bill, Edward Tucker and Bethany Tucker all of Mechanic Falls, Michael Strout of Brandon, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Emily Cormier, and Isaiah Tucker of Mechanic Falls; two brothers, Richard Felt of Bryant Pond, and Linwood Felt of Winthrop; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, in 1967; a brother, Lester Felt; and one sister, Alice Roberts.
