FARMINGTON – SAD 9 is getting a donation of 400 used theater seats for the auditorium at Mt. Blue High School.

Superintendent Mike Cormier announced the gift of seats from John Moore, owner of the Narrow Gauge Cinema, on Tuesday.

“We are absolutely thrilled,” Cormier told the SAD 9 directors.

The district appreciates the donation, which will allow the school’s seating to be upgraded, he said.

Moore is installing new seats at his popular theater on Front Street and giving the district the old seats as he puts the new ones in, Cormier said.

The school auditorium has 500 to 530 seats, for which parts aren’t made anymore, he said. Last year, Cormier had told the board that seats would need to be replaced.

The donated seats are larger and much newer, and will reduce the available seating, he said. Parts are readily available for them, Cormier added
