SOUTH PARIS – “Estate Planning for Woodland Owners” is the topic of the Jan. 20 meeting of the western Maine chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine.
The session, which is open to the public, will be at 7 p.m. in Room 118 at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. People may enter the building from the large parking lot near the cafeteria; signs will be posted.
Norway attorney Sarah Heck will go over state and federal estate tax laws, with a special emphasis on the valuation rules pertaining to woodlots and family farm properties. She will also discuss common estate-planning techniques involving wills, trusts and lifetime gifting of assets to minimize or avoid estate taxes.
