Abortion is a major issue since Roe v. Wade. Young women need to be aware of the consequences of having sex. One consequence is having a baby. What are the choices that young women have?

Abortion is one of the major issues in the United States. According to several Web sites, 6 million women become pregnant each year in the United States. Three million women have unintended pregnancies and about 1.5 million of the women who become pregnant choose abortion.

Fox News says over 1.6 million abortions are performed in the United States each year and 91 percent of abortions are performed in the first trimester. One Web site says that 2,525 women who had an abortion were more likely to have depression and lower life satisfaction. Another says 80 percent of women weren’t depressed and don’t regret having an abortion. Most women said that it benefited them in some way.

In the United States in 1965, when abortion was still illegal except in life or death situations, at least 193 women died from illegal abortions.

The public needs to be informed about abortion. I think that women and teenagers should think what the consequences might be before they decide to have sex.

I believe that abortion should be illegal except in life-or-death situations.
