DIXFIELD — Alexa Kaubris scored 17 points – including the 1,000th of her career – to spark Dirigo to a 63-29 triumph over Monmouth in an MVC girls’ basketball matchup on Saturday.
Kaubris’ 1,000th point came on the very first basket of the game and was assisted by Brooke Weston, who finished with four assists and eight points. Holly Knight added 12 points for the Cougars (10-0).
Samantha Fairchild and Cortney Barrett were the top scorers for Monmouth (3-7) with five points apiece.
Mt. Abram 60, Georges Valley 40
SALEM – Emily Stinchfield and Briana Wilkins drained 12 points apiece to lead Mt. Abram to a 60-40 victory over Georges Valley.
The Roadrunners (6-4) jumped out to a 35-12 lead at the end of the first half and were never challenged.
Georges Valley was led by Kim Watts with 13 points.
Hall-Dale 41, Mtn Valley 35
RUMFORD — Catlyn Laflin scored 19 points to lead Hall-Dale to a 41-35 victory over Mountain Valley in girls’ varsity basketball action Saturday.
Hall-Dale held a five point lead after the first quarter but the two teams played evenly for the rest of the game. Heading into the fourth quarter the Hall-Dale lead had shrunk to three points but the Bulldogs hung on.
Kristen Arsenault poured in a game high 24 points for the Mountain Valley Falcons.
Kents Hill 57, Seacoast Christian 32
KENTS HILL — Olivia Clukey and Emelda Ogwata scored 18 and 15 points to lead Kents Hill to a 57-32 victory over Seacoast Christian Academy.
Clukey and Ogwata combined for 18 rebounds as the Huskies (6-0) cruised to their 19th straight regular season victory. Kents Hill won without starting center Ally Mills who was sidelined with an injury.
Liz Trafton was the leading scorer for Seacoast (1-3) with 26 points.
Rangeley 52, Greenville 45
RANGELEY – The Rangeley Lakers sank their free throws down the stretch to hold off pesky Greenville 52-45.
Trailing by 12 points entering the final quarter, Greenville (6-3) fought back to trail by single point midway through the frame. Rangeley (8-0) put the game away when Nicole Crupi sank all four foul shots and Justine Frost-Kolva drained her two attempts late in te game.
Crupi led everyone with 25 points, including hitting 13-of-14 free throws. Krysteen Romero chipped in with 14 points.
Beth Bartley led Greenville with 18 points.
Mt. Blue 58, EL 49
AUBURN – Christine Mosher poured in a game-high 23 points to power Mt. Blue to a 58-49 triumph over Edward Little.
Amy Mansir added 15 points, including three 3-pointers as the Cougars (7-1) used a 19-14 fourth quarter to pull away.
The Red Eddies (1-6) were paced by Michelle Bernier and Kelsey Nicolas with 12 and 10 points.
Greater Portland Christian 50, Gould 40
BETHEL — Becca Bauer and Emily Johnson each scored 14 points to lead Greater Portland Christian over Gould 50-40.
Chelsey Yarborough added 13 points in the victory.
Heather Kelleher paced Gould (4-2) with 13 points, while Carley Rudd added 10 points.
Boys’ basketball
Telstar 52, Lisbon 51
BETHEL — With two seconds left on the clock and his team down by two, Sean Caddigan drained a game-winning 3-pointer to lift Telstar to a 52-51 triumph over Lisbon in MVC basketball action Saturday.
Caddigan finished with 20 points for the Rebels (6-3), while Ryan Savage added 10 points.
Chris Cates and Levi Ervin were the top scorers for the Greyhounds (5-5) putting up 16 and 14 points.
Dirigo 55, Monmouth 39
DIXFIELD – Gary Holman scored 11 points and Spencer Berry added 10 as Dirigo handed Monmouth a 55-39 setback in MVC boys’ basketball action.
The Cougars (4-6) built a 28-16 lead at the end of the first half and cruised to the win by holding the Mustangs (0-10) to two point in the third quarter.
Monmouth was led by Nate Armstrong with 11 points.
Mtn. Valley 61, Hall-Dale 40
RUMFORD – Andy Shorey drained a game-high 16 points to propel Mountain Valley to its ninth straight win as the Falcons handed Hall-Dale a 61-40 setback in boys basketball action.
The Falcons (9-0) built an unsurmountable 30-16 lead by halftime and never looked back.
The Bulldogs were led by Matt Wheelock and Ben Laflin with 15 and 13 points.
Georges Valley 78, Mt. Abram 68
THOMASTON – Matt Judkins drained 24 points and hauled down seven rebounds to lead Georges Valley to a 78-68 win over Mt. Abram in MVC basketball action.
The Buccaneers (4-7) used a 19-7 advantage from the chairity stripe to earn the victory as Max Johanson and Tommy Rogers chipped in with 15 and 13 points.
The Roadrunners (5-3) were led by Jordan Norton, who torched the nets for 34 points, including six-3-pointers.
Greenville 63, Rangeley 44
RANGELEY – Greenville used a 35-13 run in the middle two frames to overpower Rangeley 63-44 in boys’ basketball action.
Joel Jardine poured in a game-high 23 points for Greenville (5-3), while Jonah Lizotte added 16. James Raymond led the hosts with 15 points. Justin Gallant had 13.
Wiscasset 99, Livermore Falls 89
WISCASSET – Conrad Griffin scorched the twine for 41 points and Joe Gallant added 20 points as Wiscasset handed Livermore Falls a 99-89 setback in MVC basketball action.
Wiscasset held a five-point margin at the end of the first half and added five more to that in the second half to account for the final margin of victory.
The Andies (1-9) were led by Levi Armandi who drained 33 points while Brad Bryant had 17 points and Gus Elliott added 14.
Hockey
Win-Dale 10, Fryeburg 0
HALLOWELL – Mike Fleischman scored four goals while Nate Frechette added a pair of goals and four assists as Win-Dale skated to a 10-0 romp over Fryeburg in Class B hockey action Saturday.
Fleischman scored unassisted at 7:46 of the first period for the only tally the Ice Dogs (3-3) would need as Josh Grant turned back eight shots between the pipes to record the win.
Jimmy Cabrera made 22 saves on 32 shots for the Raiders
Hebron 4, Brewster 3
HEBRON – Justin Stewart scored twice, including the game-winner, to lift Hebron to a 4-3 victory over Brewster in hockey action Saturday.
Hebron (1-6) scored in the opening minute on a feed from Kris Houle to Jordan Krusch, who found the back of the net.
Down 2-0 after one, Brewster answered eight seconds into the second period and tied the contest three minutes later on a pair of goals from Josh Maganzini.
Goalie Ryan Sheehan had 24 saves for Hebron, while Don Morancy turned back 33 for Brewster in the loss.
St. Dom’s 9, Mt. Ararat 2
BRUNSWICK – Jon Rutt scored a hat trick as St. Dom’s cruised to a 9-2 win over Mt. Ararat in Class A hockey action Saturday.
Nick Stalford complimented Rutt’s three goals with a pair of his own for the Saints (8-1). St. Dom’s scored three goals in each period, and led 6-0 before the Eagles managed a goal.
Goalie John Emerson made 10 saves for the Saints, while goalie Paul Baxter turned back 24 for Mt. Ararat in the loss.
Lewiston 11, Skowhegan 0
WINSLOW — Adam Wilding and Danny Cloutier scored three goals apiece for Lewiston as they rolled over Skowhegan 11-0 in a varsity hockey game Saturday.
Tim Roy added two goals and two assists for the Blue Devils (8-1) in the victory while Joe Gauthier notched three assists. Lewiston goalkeeper Nick Langlais recorded six saves on six shots for the win.
Skowhegan (0-9) goalie Jared Johnson made 60 saves on 71 shots in the losing effort.
Westbrook 6, GNG/Poland 1
HEBRON – Steve Sands scored a pair of goals to lead Westbrook to a 6-1 win over Gray-New Gloucester/Poland in hockey action Saturday.
Junior center Dylan Michaud scored at 10:52 of the first period to tie up the contest at 1-1 for GNG/Poland.
Goalie Joe Foster had 29 saves for GNG/Poland, while goalie Stas Basistyy batted away 10 for Westbrook for the win.
