Gay marriages are an issue in Lewiston-Auburn and our nation. I am against same-sex marriages because many problems have formed from this issue. I do not believe gay marriages should be legalized in Maine.

In 11 states throughout our country, gay marriages have emerged as an enormous issue according to www.usatoday.com. This year, Massachusetts has become the first state to allow same-sex marriages even if a lot of people disagree, according to www.bbcnews.com.

However, in Canada they are discussing legalizing same-sex marriages and Europeans have civil unions for gay couples, says www.cbsnews.com on March 4, 2004. In 11 states, same-sex marriages have been banned. cbsnews.com on March 4, 2004, also said many people believe that to have a gay or lesbian marriage is against the Bible. Most states don’t allow same-sex marriages.

I feel this way because same-sex marriages are against my beliefs. I do not think same-sex marriages should be legalized in Maine.
