There are pro and cons to the topic of school uniforms. Danyelle C. Swain suggests that school uniforms would only cut down a child’s individuality. Tara Maginnis, a Ph.D., says that school uniforms send a clear early-life message to students that conformity is important and creativity is not. Others wonder how would a parent ID their child if all the students were dressed the same, running and screaming in an accident or disaster like a tornado or an earthquake? Dr. David L. Brunsma says school uniforms will not affect a student’s attendance, by increasing their attendance, like some people think.

Bad behavior problems are also supposed to decrease. Abuse is also supposed to decrease. Academic achievement in students is one of the things that is supposed to increase. All these things are supposed to help the children, but by looking the same and not having any individuality, the children will be sad or angry for having to wear and look like everybody else.

School uniforms should not be allowed in public schools. I don’t want school uniforms because there is no proof that uniforms will stop bad behavior or substance abuse.
