LEWISTON – Andrew C. Bennett, 83, of 70 Blake St., died Monday morning, Jan. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in East Wilton on July 3, 1921, the son of William and Bessie (McCrillis) Bennett. He moved to this area after his education in Wilton schools.

He worked for various local shoe shops and later worked at Bates College for 20 years until his retirement in 1982.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the Ashler Masonic Lodge 101.

He loved animals, playing the guitar and singing.

He is survived by his wife Marcelle (Delorme) Bennett, whom he married on Feb. 26, 1965; one brother, Frank Bennett of Fairfield; one stepson, Philip J. Desmarais of Turner; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Alvin and James Bennett; and two sisters, Fannie Williamson and Ruth Milliken.
