Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) will be conducting its annual state informational meetings on Sunday, Jan. 23.

The sites and times are as follows: 10 a.m., Howard Johnson’s off the Maine Tunkpike/Old Exit 8, Westbrook; 2 p.m., Augusta Recreation Department, 1 City Center, Augusta.

These meetings are designed for any teams and coaches interested in particpating in Girls YBOA for 2005.

Youth tourney slated

BRUNSWICK – The Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the 24th annual Boys and 4th annual Girls Mid-Winter Classic Junior High School Basketball Tournaments, Feb, 21-26.

The tourneys are open to all junior high school, middle school and recreation department teams. All-star, AAU or similar travel clubs are not eligible for the event.

Teams may carry only those in Grades 6-8 on their roster. It’s a single-elimination tournament with a championship and consolation game to determine the top 4 finishers.

The event is limited to 32 teams. Team registration is $85. Entry deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 9, or until the tourney field is full.
