LEWISTON – Pauline L. Grannell, 94, of Bardwell Street, Lewiston, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a short illness.

Born in Phillips, the daughter of Elbert and Louise Harnden Matthews, she graduated from Stephens High School and the University of Maine at Gorham.

She taught in the Rumford school system for a number of years, before moving with her family to Pennsylvania, where she contributed to the war effort, working at Hamilton Watch Co. during World War II.

During her life, she was active in church activities and most recently was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Lewiston.

She is survived by two sons, Dana B. Grannell and his wife, Mary Ann, of Spokane, Wash., and Arthur E. Grannell and his wife, Barbara, of York, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Bradford Grannell, Roy Grannell and Matthew Grannell. Additionally, she leaves one great-grandchild, Marshall, son of Roy and Maria Grannell.

She was the wife of Bernard L. Grannell, who died in 1975.
