• Jan. 16 – Multiple complaints have been filed with police about thefts of skiing equipment, apparel, gloves and goggles at Black Mountain Ski Area since the ski season began. “We want to remind people to keep an eye on their equipment, and to secure it to prevent thefts,” Detective Sgt. Stacy Carter said.
Police summoned a 16-year-old Rumford boy for one theft on Jan. 16, but Carter said Thursday that more cases are pending against others involved in the thefts.
• Jan. 14, 5:30 p.m. – A Cumberland Street resident reported that a girl under the age of 10 had been physically abused. The case was assigned to Detective Carter.
• Jan. 13 – A complainant reported a Cumberland Street incident of unlawful sexual contact involving a boy under the age of 12. Detective Carter is investigating.
• Jan. 12 – A Falmouth Street resident reported coming home to find that someone had stolen all of her furniture sometime during the prior weekend.
Arrests
• Kalinda Day, 38, of Rumford, on a warrant charging failure to pay a fine on a charge of operating after suspension, on Jan. 20. She was released on $113 cash bail, and is to be arraigned on March 1 in Rumford District Court.
