WILTON – The Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Wilton SeniorsPlus.

Carol Timberlake, Edgewood and Orchard Park living centers administrator, will speak on seeking placement and financing in the often confusing maze of elder care. She will answer such questions as “Where should I call first?” and “What resources are available to help me in making this decision and transition?”.

Painting class

FARMINGTON – SAD 9 Adult and Community Education will offer acrylic painting with art instructor Barbara Hathaway of Wilton. The six-week course will begin Wednesday, Feb. 2, and run through March 16. A lesson on framing will be included. Chinese auction

KINGFIELD – There will be free refreshments at the Chinese auction to be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at Webster Hall, School Street.

Tickets will be on sale from 1 to 2 p.m. and the drawing will be held at 2.

Only good used and new items will be accepted for the benefit for the American Cancer Society.

The event is being sponsored by Friends and Family Ties, a Relay for Life team. For more information, call 265-5897.

Students help

STRONG – The fourth- and fifth-graders from Strong Elementary School have decided to send a check for $100 to Indonesia to help the Tsunami victims.

The students used the funds earned through the school store, “Best Buy Supply,” selling items such as pencils, erasers and folders.

The money was donated to the Save the Children Foundation to help the children in Indonesia.
