NORWAY – Araminta T. Sawyer, 86, of South Paris, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday Jan. 22, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1918 in Lewiston, the daughter of Archie and Valeda (Vaillencourt) Turner.

She worked for 27 years as a shirt presser at Cummings Cleaners on Spring Street in Auburn, and was also a seamstress, working out of her home in Mechanic Falls for many years.

She enjoyed traveling, and driving her car throughout the state. She was especially fond of the ocean, and she loved spending time with grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Gould and husband, Larry, of Auburn, and Valeda Edwards of So. Paris; sons, Archie Sawyer and wife, Rena, of Poland, Jeffrey Sawyer and wife, Sandra, of Leeds; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mellen C. Sawyer Jr.; brothers, Vernon Turner, and Clarence “Kelly” Turner; sister Mildred “Sweetie” Dubar; daughter Susan Ann Gagnon; and grandson Jeffrey Paul Gould.
