OTISFIELD – In response to residents’ requests, the Town Office will be open on the third Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to noon.
In addition, the office will no longer close during the lunch hour, as it has in the past.
Town Clerk Penny Tougas received permission from selectmen to make the office hour changes at last week’s meeting. They will take effect in April after the March town meeting, she said, so the first SaTougas also said there is no need to close the office from noon to 1 p.m. “There is no reason that my staff and I can’t stagger lunches to remain open continuously from 9 to 5,” she said.
Head Selectman Lenny Adler said he’s happy to try a change in the hours if Tougas believes that the changes will better serve the public.
The new hours will be: Mondays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and the third Saturday of each month, 9 a.m. to noon.
“I believe that these changes will be a positive step towards improving availability to all,” she said.
