LEWISTON – Edward A. Clavet, 87, formerly a resident of 127 Howe St., Lewiston, died Sunday evening, Jan. 23, at d’Youville Pavilion, following a long illness.

He was born in Montmagny, P.Q., on Aug. 15, 1917, the son of Alfred and Marie-Louise (Boulet) Clavet and had been a resident of this community for most of his life.

He was employed as a roofer for Hahnel Brothers for many years until his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing and playing the harmonica and accordion when he was younger.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church.

For the past four years, he was in the expert care of the nurses in 4 West at d’Youville Pavilion.

He is survived by his wife, the former Blanche Thibodeau of Lewiston, whom he married on Nov. 11, 1939; three daughters, Theresa Tomasino and her husband, Michael, of West Monroe, N.Y., Lucille Gooldrup and her husband, Howard Jr., of Lewiston, and Annette Rose Marie Braxton of Lewiston; three sons, Maurice Clavet of Lewiston, Gerard Clavet of Sumner, and Alfred Clavet and his wife, Pauline, of Sumner; and one brother, Joseph Clavet of Florida. He will be sadly missed by all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, Roland Clavet; and five brothers, Rene, Hector, Maurice, Lucien and William Clavet.
