MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – John Peter Gilroy, 73, of Middletown, Conn., beloved husband of Jeannette Gilroy, passed peacefully in the early afternoon, Jan. 24, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lewiston, he was the son of the late Thomas Gilroy and Anna Gilroy McBrine.

Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Patrick Gilroy, of Middletown, Conn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Ralph Heffter of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Alice Gilroy of Manchester, Conn.; a sister, Marguerite “Peggy” Bean and her husband, Ernest, of Buckfield; a brother, Thomas Gilroy and wife, Betty, of Henriella N.Y.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Richard McBrine, and a sister, Rita Danforth.
