FARMINGTON – Due to the cold weather this past Sunday, the Tin Mountain Roundup to benefit the Farmington area food pantry will be offered again Sunday, Jan. 30, at Titcomb Mountain Ski Slope.
Skiers may bring in a donation of three cans or packaged food items and ski all day for $15 for an adult 13 years old or older, or $13 younger skiers.
With the food donation, half-day lift tickets are $12 for an adult and $10 for juniors. Nordic day ticket prices are reduced from $9 to $5 with a donation.
A special rate of $20 on the slope’s Learn to Ski/Ride package, which is normally $25, will also be offered. With the three-item food donation, any individual 10 years old or older may get a Learn to Ski/Ride one-hour group clinic, a beginner trail access day ticket, and rentals. Group Learn to Ski/Ride clinics will be available only at 1 p.m. Sunday. People are asked to call 24 hours in advance to reserve either private or group lessons and rentals, as space is limited.
The Bill Koch Nordic ski program will also have a distance challenge called “Kids, Cookies and Kilometers” on Sunday, Jan. 30. This event is for children 13 years old and younger. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parents are welcome to join with a discounted price for a Nordic trail pass.
Another downhill children’s program for the non-beginner skier is the Buddy Werner recreational racing program, which runs from noon to 2 p.m. every Sunday. This year, local high school and middle school coaches run the program.
More information may be obtained from the slope’s Web site at www.titcombmountain.com, or by calling 778-9031.
