LEWISTON – Mary Anne “Marion” A. Roy, 99, of Jay, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 27, at Montello Manor Nursing Home where she had resided for two years.

She was born on July 26, 1905, in Chisholm, one of 10 children born to Francois Xavier and Celestine Roy Fournier, and was educated in the local schools. She and her siblings were born and raised on Mill Street.

She worked at the Livermore Falls Glove Shop, prior to her marriage to Alphonse J. “Pete” Roy on July 15, 1928, and he passed away on June 27, 1964, after 36 years of marriage. As a full-time homemaker, she was devoted to caring for her family. She later worked at Bass Shoe Co. in Wilton.

She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, and a member of the Daughters of Isabella and Ladies of Ste. Anne Society. She enjoyed cooking, reading, bowling, and being with her grandchildren. She was always ready to go shopping and dining out with her friends. Guests were always welcome in her home, where they enjoyed partaking in her excellent cooking. She always looked forward to family gatherings.

She is survived by a son and his wife, Ronald and Montress Roy of Jay; a daughter, Mary Anne Trask, of Saco; a brother, Arthur L. Fournier, of Farmington; a sister-in-law, Loretta Pineau, of Farmington; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Roger Roy on Feb. 21, 1997; a son-in-law, Spencer Trask on Sept. 27, 1987; five sisters, Ida Muse, Irene Paquin, Alma Jolicoeur, Leonie Deshaies and Ora Griffin; three brothers, Albert E., Alfred, and Ovila “Pat” Fournier.
