BATH – Singer/songwriter David Mallett will perform Saturday, Feb. 5, at The Chocolate Church Arts Center as part of the The American Heritage Folk Music Series.

Mallett is a Maine native whose career spans four decades. His songs have been recorded by more than 150 artists, including Pete Seeger, Alison Krauss, John Denver, Emmylou Harris and Muppets. The “Garden Song” he wrote has become an American folk classic.

He has performed in town halls and folk clubs across America and Europe in addition to major venues such Wolf Trap, Newport Folk Festival and the “Prairie Home Companion” show.

The Bangor Daily News recently recognized him as one of the 58 most memorable Mainers of the 20th Century.

His 12th album, “Artist in Me,” was released in 2003 on his North Road Records. Mallett has published two books, “The Songs of David Mallett” and “Inch by Inch,” an award-winning children’s book based on his most famous song, the “Garden Song.”

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert are $16 for members of the arts center; $18 in advance for the general public or $20 at the door. Tickets may be obtained by calling 442-8455.
