For the past few weeks, my regular lunch spot has witnessed a huge distraction. There’s good food, for sure, but I can barely keep my attention on the fare.
Instead, we focus on the Androscoggin River and a little brown-and-white dog, dashing to and fro near the open water. On one occasion, the staff and several patrons tried, with little success, to coax the skittish canine close enough to the shore in an effort to rescue him. It has become desperate enough that people are willing to risk their own safety in order to get the pooch.
In these great Twin Cities, there must be something that can be done. One thought that has occurred to my family is the possible use of a Have-a-Heart trap baited with a juicy meatball or perhaps an Italian sausage.
There are definitely enough folks interested in helping, and the story would make great headlines.
Perhaps the dog could be placed in a good home and take up a new hobby.
