RUMFORD – Senior guard Alexa Kaubris led the way with 17 points as Dirigo cruised to a 58-30 win over Mountain Valley in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.

The Cougars (14-0) received offensive support from junior forward Michelle Holmquist. Dirigo filled their coffers in a lucrative second half with 32 points.

Junior guard Kristen Arsenault led the Falcons (5-9) with nine points in the loss.

Mt. Abram 71, Winthrop 41

SALEM – Lynn Plog netted 15 points as Mt. Abram pulled away from Winthrop with a 22-8 second quarter en route to a 71-41 girls’ basketball win Friday.

The Roadrunners (8-5) jumped out to a 12-0 lead only to have the Ramblers (7-6) tie the score at 15 at the end of the first quarter. Brittany York scored six of her 12 points in the pivotal second quarter and Logahn Walker finished with 13 points in the win. Winthrop was led by Katie Pushard’s 12 points.

Winslow 67, Oak Hill 43

WINSLOW – Ashley Carter tossed in 15 points and Stephanie Bossie added 10 to lead Winslow to a 67-43 triumph over Oak Hill in a girls’ KVAC basketball game Friday.

The Black Raiders led 61-22 after three quarters and were in control throughout.

Amber Chapman netted 20 points to lead Oak Hill (0-13). Ashley Stein chipped in with nine points and six rebounds in the loss.

Valley 67, Buckfield 24

BINGHAM – Junior guard Kristin Baker poured in 22 points to power Valley to a 67-24 victory over Buckfield.

The Cavaliers (10-3) jumped out to a 16-4 lead after one quarter and went on a 26-3 tear in the second frame for a 42-7 lead at the half. Baker tallied 18 of her 22 points in the first half, including four from beyond the arc.

Junior forward Jeri Fitzmaurice garnered four field goals and five free throws to support Valley’s effort with 13 points.

Alyssa Henderson paced the Bucks (6-10) with nine points.

Monmouth 37, Lisbon 24

MONMOUTH – Sophomore center Courtney Barrett recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead Monmouth to a 37-24 victory over Lisbon.

The Mustangs (6-8) moved ahead of the Greyhounds (1-14) by seven points in each of the first and third quarters.

Soleil Mathieu paced Lisbon with eight points.

Rangeley 70, Vinalhaven 32

RANGELEY – Sarah Schrader tallied a game-high 21 points and added six steals as Rangeley (13-0) remained unbeaten with a 70-32 victory over Vinalhaven.

Rosie LaPointe chipped in with 12 points and six steals for the Lakers. Rangeley had things wrapped up at halftime with a 49-10 lead.

Kim Smith led Vinalhaven (11-2) with 10 points.

Boys’ basketball

Rangeley 72, Vinalhaven 38

RANGELEY – Sophomore David Jensen scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Rangeley to a 72-38 victory against Vinalhaven in boys’ basketball on Friday. Aaron Philbrick also added a double-double for the Lakers (3-9) with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Randy Pitts led the way for Vinalhaven (2-10) with 13 points.

Winslow 80, Oak Hill 54

WALES – Eric Lopez scored a team-high 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, to lead Winslow to an 80-54 victory over Oak Hill in boys’ basketball on Friday night.

Stu Sirois and Corey Martin chipped in with 13 points apiece for the Black Raiders (8-5). Brian Bisson of Oak Hill (1-13) led all scorers with 17 points, while Mike Eaton netted 11.
