PORTLAND – Melissa Anne Roope and Nathan Thomas Maurais were united in marriage on Aug. 14 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. The Reception was held at the Portland Club.

The bride is the daughter of Annette Roope and the late Boyd E. Roope of Castle Hill. The bridegroom is the son of Amedee and Juliette Maurais of Jay.

Jessica Roope, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Brandy Rogers, Monique Claverie and Amber Powers, friends of the bride. The flower girl was Carrie Maurais, niece and goddaughter of the bridegroom.

The best man was Charles Eastman, friend of the bridegroom, although he was absent due to military obligations. John Powers and Tim Hayes, also friends of the bridegroom, were the ushers.

The bride attended Presque Isle High School and St. Joseph’s College of Maine in Standish.

The bridegroom attended Jay High School and Merrimack College in Andover, Mass. They are employed in Scarborough.

After a honeymoon in Rome and Capri, Italy, the couple is residing in Falmouth Foreside.
