SOUTH PARIS – Leo “Cebum” Cyr Jr., 79, of Rumford, passed away peacefully, Jan. 29, at Maine Veteran’s Home of South Paris, with his loving family at his side.

He was born May 13, 1925, to Leo E. Cyr and Alice (Sutton) Cyr.

He retired from Boise Cascade Paper Mill where he was employed for 40 years.

He served in the Army and was a member of the American Legion.

He was a superior athlete and he participated in baseball, softball, boxing, bowling, and excelled in golf as a member of the Oakdale and Bethel Country Clubs. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the NRA.

As a loyal Red Sox fan, his dream came true when they won the World Series.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Lorraine (Waugh) Cyr; his daughter, Lynda and husband, Calvin Beavers, of Mexico; daughter, Penelope and husband, Charles Lorenson, of Kodiak Island, Alaska; sons, Arthur and wife, Marianne, of Rumford, Leo and wife, Rebecca, of Virginia Beach, Va., Kevin and wife, Dawn, of Freeport, and Roger of Anchorage, Alaska; sister, Jeanette Mayo and husband, Teddy; brother, Albert “Porky” and wife, Louise; grandchildren, Henry, Tammy, Shawn, Wayne, Rudy, Colton, Travis, Mathew, Aaron, K. Jesse, Thomas, Calen and Nathaniel; 11 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends, all of whom will dearly miss his loving nature and great sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Bourassa.
