Maine veterans who served in Iraq or Afghanistan in the post-Sept. 11 conflicts can now apply for a new college scholarship.

Applications for the Boulos Family Scholarship will be available online at www.boulosscholarship.me.edu at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The scholarship can be used at any regionally accredited Maine college or university starting this semester. Total scholarships are worth $4,080, the average cost of tuition for a two-year degree at a Maine community college.

The scholarship was funded by a $1 million pledge from the Boulos family of Falmouth. Joe Boulos, chairman and owner of CB Richard Ellis/The Boulos Co. real estate firm, announced the gift at a Christmas party he hosted for veterans and their families in December.
