MEXICO – Clarence J. Buotte, 78, of Backkingdom Road, died Sunday at his home, following a long illness, with his family at his side.

He was born in Mexico, on Jan. 23, 1927, a son of Thomas and Nina (Gaudet) Buotte. He was educated in Mexico Schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1947.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II in England and Germany. He was also employed with Chevron Oil Corp as a burner technician for many years.

He was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, and was a member of the American Legion Post 24, the VFW Post 1641 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 1248.

He loved following the New England Patriots, gardening, hunting, fishing, and visiting with family.

He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Doris (Lessard) Buotte; five sons, David Buotte of Newport, Richard Buotte of Hyde Park, N.Y., Robert Buotte and wife, Luann, of Mexico, Steven Buotte and wife, Sue, of New Port Richey, Fla., and Eugene Buotte of Mexico; six daughters, Louise Boling and husband, John, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Diane Doucette and husband, Brian, of Boothbay, Patricia Fowler and husband, Stephen, of Hopewell Jct., N.Y., Lucille Towle Constable and husband, Kim, of Hopewell Jct., N.Y., Marie Halton and husband, Kevin, of Salt Point, N.Y., and Denise Lewis and husband, Mark, of Voluntown, Conn.; five sisters, Elaine Gurshick and husband, Kenneth, of Turner, Lillian Kellog and husband, Robert, of Rumford, Vivian Buotte of Mexico, Beverly Waugh and husband, Eugene, of Mexico, and Judy Woods and husband, Paul, of Mexico; two brothers, Thomas Buotte of Dixfield, and William Buotte of Mexico; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and best friend, Frankie Downs of Mexico.

He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Joseph Buotte in 1996; brothers, Norman and Dennis; a sister, Colleen; and son-in-law, James E. Towle.
