Dear Sun Spots: My dad is living in the community home here in Rumford. He loves to look at and read old copies of the National Geographic, but they seem to be hard to find. Would any of you have any stacks around that you would like to be rid of? If so, please call me at (207) 364-4530. I’d be glad to pick them up. Thanks so much. I enjoy reading this section every day. – C.A., Rumford.
Dear Sun Spots: I heard recently that there have been inquiries about the song played when the Lewiston Maineiacs score a goal. It is the “Triumphal March” or “Triumph March” from Guiseppe Verdi’s opera “Aida.” Hope this helps. – Irish Washerwoman, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: On Jan. 8, I went to Augusta to the Motorsports show. I paid $20 to have a picture taken with Michael Waltrip. There were some problems and I was told the picture would be mailed the following Monday. As of this time, still no picture. Could you find out who should be contacted to find where the picture is? – Bill Hanson, Peru.
Answer: Sun Spots spoke with Bob Morris, show director of Northeast Motorsports Expo who says, please be patient. Morris says the photographers were overwhelmed with all the requests for photographs at this event, and it took time for the photos to be printed up and mailed to Waltrip’s representatives in South Carolina. A total of 125 photos were mailed. However, Morris says Winston Cup drivers’ schedules are busy. Fans need to allow them time to sit in one place and autograph all these photographs. The photographs were packaged and sent out Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and it will likely be a another week or so before you and others who ordered them receive them. Morris says if you do not receive them within about two weeks, please contact him via e-mail at [email protected] and he’ll be happy to contact the representatives for an update.
Dear Sun Spots: I am going to a convention in Atlantic City soon and am desperately seeking the words to “On the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.” Can anybody out there help me? You can reach me at (207) 782-5704. – N. Perry, Lewiston.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots located the following lyrics to a Bruce Springsteen song. Perhaps this is the one you are seeking:
Well, they blew up the chicken man in Philly last night Now, they blew up his house, too Down on the boardwalk they’re gettin’ ready for a fight Gonna see what them racket boys can do
Now, there’s trouble bustin’ in from outta state And the D.A. can’t get no relief Gonna be a rumble out on the promenade And the gamblin’ commission’s hangin’ on by the skin of his teeth
CHORUS: Well now, ev’rything dies, baby, that’s a fact But maybe ev’rything that dies someday comes back Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty And meet me tonight in Atlantic City
Well, I got a job and tried to put my money away But I got debts that no honest man can pay So I drew what I had from the Central Trust And I bought us two tickets on that Coast City bus
CHORUS
Now our luck may have died and our love may be cold But with you forever I’ll stay We’re goin’ out where the sand’s turnin’ to gold Put on your stockin’s baby, `cause the night’s getting cold And maybe ev’rything dies, baby, that’s a fact But maybe ev’rything that dies someday comes back
Now, I been lookin’ for a job, but it’s hard to find Down here it’s just winners and losers and don’t get caught on the wrong side
of that line Well, I’m tired of comin’ out on the losin’ end So, honey, last night I met this guy and I’m gonna do a little favor for him
