PARIS – Oxford Hills Adult Education announces the following classes:

Certified Nursing Assistant: The course leads to state certification as a nurse’s aid. It includes 92 hours of classroom instruction plus 88 hours of clinical practice at local nursing homes and Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Participants must submit to a background check and have a high school diploma or General Educational Development. Anyone interested in enrolling must pass a basic reading test. Interested students should contact the Adult Education office at 743-8842, option 1, to schedule the test.

The 14-week class will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays starting Feb. 7. The tuition is $500.

Medical Terminology: Learn general medical terms, body structure and body systems, including anatomy and physiology, pathology, pharmacology, lab, clinical procedures, records and abbreviations.

The course will be taught via a computerized, self-paced course, with assistance from an instructor. Suitable for nursing and CNA students, medical records, medical coding, personnel and clerical staff in medical offices. One high school credit is awarded upon completion.

The 19-week course will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. starting Tuesday, Feb. 8. Tuition is $150 and lab fee is $10.

Microsoft Access: A hands-on course to learn how to use a database with Microsoft Office 97. The 12-week course will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, starting Feb. 7. Tuition is $80; text is $25; lab fee is $15. Robert Dutil is the instructor.

Upholstery: Restore a piece of upholstered furniture. The 12-week class will run from 7 to 9 p.m. beginning Monday, Feb. 7. The tuition is $65; lab fee $5. The class will meet at Farrington Upholstery, Coldwater Brook Road, Oxford, taught by Glen Farrington.
