LEWISTON – Dorothy S. Letarte, 76, of 56 Birch St., Lewiston, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 1, at d’Youville Pavilion, following a short illness.

Born in Auburn, Oct. 3, 1928, the daughter of Romeo and Antoinette (Boisvert) Raymond, she had been a resident of this community all of her life.

She was married to Wilfred Letarte in Lewiston, and he died on Jan. 12, 1990.

She was employed in the local shoe industry and also the Bates Mill until her retirement.

She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church.

She enjoyed going to the ocean and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her cat, Minoune.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Giasson and his companion, Peggy Kennison, of Oxford, and Larry Giasson Sr. and his wife, Trudy, of Sumner; two sisters, Henrietta Charest of Lewiston, and Lucienne Hamel and her husband, Normand, of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Joan, who died in 1956, and by a brother, Fernand Raymond, who died in 1984.
