LISBON FALLS – Residents living in and around the Lisbon Falls area can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke. Life Line Screening will be at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, 14 School St., on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m.

A stroke, also known as a “brain attack,” is ranked as the third leading killer in the world and the second among women. Through preventive screenings, the risk of having a stroke can be reduced.

Screenings involve the use of ultrasound technology and scan for potential health problems related to blocked arteries, aortic aneurysms, and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which is a predictor of heart disease. Also offered for men and women is a bone density screening to assess the risk for osteoporosis.

Each screening requires 10 minutes or less to complete. A vascular screening package is $109. A screening plus the osteoporosis screening is $129. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 1-800-697-9721. Preregistration is required.
