SOUTH PARIS – Ruth K. Hewey, 88, formerly of Mechanic Falls, died Monday, Jan. 31, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
She was born in Lewiston, on Oct. 22, 1916, the daughter of Mary Flaherty.
She attended schools in Lewiston and had been a homemaker all of her life.
She volunteered at Mechanic Falls Head Start. She loved children and was very social with her friends.
She married Ellery B. Hewey.
She is survived by two sons, Bernard Hewey and his wife, Glenna, and Gene Hewey, all of Oxford; a stepdaughter, Vivian Ray of Auburn; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband; daughters, Shirley, Diane, Marilyn and Linda Hewey; a stepdaughter, Cora Medeiros; and a stepson, Lawrence Hewey.
