ROXBURY – Robert L. “Bob” Fitzmorris, 83, of Byron Road, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 3, at his residence.

He was born in Mexico on March 14, 1921, a son of Francis J. and Mary H. Hickey Fitzmorris.

He attended schools in Mexico.

He served in the United States Army during World War II with Company C 541st Parachute Infantry Regiment. Following the war, he was employed for several years at Oxford Paper Co.

He and his wife then moved to Stratford, Conn., and resided there for 36 years. He was employed at Singers and retired from Van Dousen & Myers. They moved back to Roxbury in 1986.

He was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Rumford.

Bob enjoyed landscaping and doing home maintenance, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beryl (Harris) Fitzmorris, of Roxbury; a son, Robert L. Fitzmorris Jr. and wife, Diane, of Seymour, Conn.; a daughter, Judith Ludecke and her husband, William, of Southington, Conn.; two sisters, Eva Spaulding and her husband, Stanley, of Mexico, and Sarah Lowell of North Fort Myers, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Rena Fitzmorris of Mexico, and Theresa Fitzmorris of Rumford; grandchildren, Dan Fitzmorris and his companion, Jan, David Fitzmorris and his wife, Tracey, Robert Erickson and his wife, Laura; and great-grandson, Matthew Fitzmorris.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Clifford, Albert, Bernard and George; and two sisters, Mae Collette and Margaret Bernard.
