TOGUS – Herman “Mac” McDaniel Jr., 62, of Main Street, Lisbon Falls, died Friday, Feb. 4, at the Veterans Hospital, Togus.

He was born in Columbia, Miss., July 8, 1942, the son of Herman Sr., and Bertha Morgan McDaniel.

He grew up in Columbia and graduated from Columbia High School, Class of 1960. Following graduation, he served as an E5 in the United States Navy until 1965, when he was honorably discharged. He married Maria Rose Thereoulis on April 21, 1963, in Astoria, Long Island, N.Y.

He worked in retail for 23 years, and was an “elegant junque” seller. He enjoyed collecting antiques, going to yard sales, his two dogs, Princess Michaela and Madison Nicole, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a lifetime member and elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Besides his wife of Lisbon Falls, he is survived by his stepmother, Lorena McDaniel, of Columbia, Miss; two sons, Michael E. McDaniel of Bath, and David W. McDaniel and his wife, Kim, of Memphis, Tenn.; seven daughters, April M. Shippen and her husband, William, of Bowdoinham, Princess Heidi A. Hilton of Rome, Faith I. McDaniel-Rodgers of Brunswick, Holly M. Alexander and her husband, Richard Jr., of Woolwich, Marietta C. Giroux and her husband, David, of Topsham, Amy E. McDaniel of Lisbon Falls, and Jessica Autumn McDaniel of Brunswick; three brothers, Milton McDaniel and his wife, Judy, of Oakvale, Miss., Donnie McDaniel and his wife, Debbie, of Columbia, Miss., and Jock Jordan of Slydell, La.; two sisters, Betty Lee and her husband, Vester, of Columbia, Miss., and Nelda Gardiner and her husband, Glen, of Tibbie, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his father, Herman McDaniel Sr.; his mother, Bertha Morgan Summers; a brother, Ronnie McDaniel; and a sister, Hilda McDaniel.
