I am writing as a taxpayer and a member of the Mexico Taxpayers Association. I have attended most of the Mexico selectmen meetings for two years and have sat and listened to Monique Aniel try to do what was best for the financial situation in my town. She did a super job, with her facts and presentations, along with many good questions, but she could not do it alone, so things did not get done and we are at the same place were four months ago – a $300,000 shortfall.

Selectmen were not listening to the people who elected them, nor were they following the guidelines they were supposed to be operating under.

Now, we are being given a second chance to join with Aniel, along with others who share her great expertise, with the Mexico Taxpayers Association and maybe, working together, we can be a strong voice for getting Mexico back on track.

Our mission is not to be vindictive, just concerned and wanting our elected officials to listen to the people who elected them.

The $300,000 shortfall will not disappear. If not made up with cuts in the budget, it will be the Mexico taxpayers who will pay on the next tax bills.

Sitting back and grumbling does not work. People must commit to action.
