LEWISTON – Carolyn Joy Merrill, 61, of Cumberland Street, Rumford, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 6, at Central Maine Medical Center with her three children and very close family friend, Becky Monsalve, at her bedside.

She was born on June 16, 1943, in Somerville, Mass., the daughter of Harry O. Fraser and Doris E. Fraser (Merrill) and attended local Somerville High School.

She enjoying playing games on the computer, scratch tickets, Las Vegas, her cats, watching soap operas and QVC, and most of all visiting and having tea with family and friends.

She was employed at Bass Shoe and, most recently, Rumford Community Home since 1993.

She is survived by sons, Wilfred T. Merrill Jr., Michael Lee Merrill both of Rumford; daughter, Nancy and husband, Paul; granddaughter, Brittny Haven, all of Orange, Calif.; sisters, June Crowell, Constance Schindler, Barbara Richards; brothers, Donnie Fraser and Johnny Fraser; stepdaughter, Deborah Gates, and the children’s father and Carolyn’s ex-husband, Wilfred T. Merrill Sr.

She was predeceased by her parents, and brother Kenny Fraser.
