This is in response to the letters of Feb 1. In the first letter, Paul Duquette brings out one of the major faults in modern society – if insurance claim waivers were in effect, they would have to state that if no seat belt or helmet is worn:

• My insurance company would not have to pay for the injuries sustained, protecting me from paying for another’s attributable folly.

• The hospital would not get stuck with the bill (perhaps cash before service?).

• In the case of death, society would not have to support remaining family members.

• Disability payments would not be allowed.

The hunting issue follows the same curve. I wonder if my right to walk in the woods one day a week without potentially being shot at has been taken away.

In the next letter, Rick Thackeray seems to ignore the only way to truly balance a budget. When expenses exceed income, upkeep will be the downfall. Free federal funding? Give me a break. Responsibility begins at home.

In the third letter, Rachel Rodrigue seems to construe biblical truth, mathematical fact and personal opinion as wrong. Many believe the Bible. Many know that the candidate with the most votes wins, yet some question that reality. I do not understand why so many people are still trying to fight the Civil War. 1 Timothy 2: 1-2 instructs us what to do and why.
