AUBURN – Watercolor artist and instructor Marjorie DiRenzo of Auburn will be the featured artist for February at Auburn Savings.

DiRenzo attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. While in Minnesota, she took lessons from Nora Stevens, who had been a student of the well-known artist Edgar Whitney.

She later moved to Maine, raised a family and taught grade-school language arts for 25 years. In recent years she has taught adult education in Lewiston and spends much of her time showing artwork in various locations throughout the state.

DiRenzo chose watercolor as a medium because of its unpredictability, transparency and color possibilities. Many of her original works may be viewed in the lobby of both locations of Auburn Savings, 256 Court St., and 325 Sabattus St., Lewiston, across from St. Mary’s Hospital.

“We are thrilled that Ms. DiRenzo graciously agreed to become the first artist to showcase her work at Auburn Savings,” said President and CEO Allen Sterling. “This is the first in a series of continual exhibits to be presented in our branches as part of Auburn Savings’ commitment to the arts in the Lewiston/Auburn area. We hope these exhibits will call attention to the fact that artists such as Ms. DiRenzo help to make our community a special place to live, work, and raise our families.”
