AUGUSTA – Since he was focusing on the release of a nearly $200 million bond package, Gov. John Baldacci said Wednesday he would delay by a day his analysis of the impact of President Bush’s proposed federal budget.
The analysis is now expected today, said press secretary Lynn Kippax. Each state department was working to provide information on how their programs would be affected, Kippax said.
On Tuesday, Baldacci said he was concerned about the impact of Bush’s budget on Maine, particularly proposed federal cuts in Medicaid and defense spending that would lead to Bath Iron Works layoffs.
After his analysis is complete, Baldacci pledged to embark on a “full-court press” to lobby Congress and the Bush administration.
