BETHEL – Planners continued work Wednesday night on two subdivision applications before tabling them to await more documents. They also approved a site plan amendment for an expanding retail business.

Darryl Brown of Main-Land Development Consultants Inc. of Livermore Falls represented both subdivision applicants: Charles and Charlene Romans and Swan Hill Corp.

The Romans are proposing an eight-lot subdivision, Hide-A-Way Hills on Hide-A-Way Hills Lane off Chandler Hill Road and Route 26. The lots range in size from 40,000 square feet to 1.43 acres.

The lane, currently a driveway to the Romans’ home and another house, is to be brought up to Bethel’s private road standards.

Acting Chairman Lawrence Engdahl and other planners voiced concerns about the project’s designed drainage ditches along the lane, and the channeling of water into drainage ditches along Chandler Hill Road.

Planners voted 5-1 to request that Brown provide a basic storm water management plan by the board’s next meeting.

Swan Hill Corp. is proposing a 14-lot subdivision named Swan Hill at Intervale. It is to be off Intervale Road along Swan Hill Road.

Lot sizes on the subdivided 29.5-acre parcel are to range in size from 1.4 to 2.59 acres.

Planners scheduled a public hearing on the project for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, in the town office, before tabling further discussion.

The board OK’d a site plan amendment for applicant Jonathan Goldberg’s True North Adventureware business after minimal discussion.

The original site plan was approved on July 8, 1992.

Goldberg and his wife are relocating their outdoor sporting equipment and supplies store from the Philbrook Place retail facility on Main Street to 196 Walkers Mill Road, also known as Route 26.

There, the couple purchased a former farmhouse and antiques building, and proposed to construct a 2,400-square-foot retail addition to house their expanding business.
