LEWISTON – Gerard Armand Samson, 74, of 15 Shank St., died Tuesday, Feb. 8, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in Lewiston, Aug. 8, 1930, a son of Amedee and Flore Noury Samson, he attended Lewiston schools, and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1950.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, and worked as district and sales manager for California Grower Wine Association and Inglenook Wineries, retiring in 1990. He was also co-owner of Hudson Bus Lines with his wife Theresa Samson. He loved to meet for coffee everyday with his friends at Tim Horton’s. He enjoyed working with wood, and boating at his camp at Tacoma Lakes. He was a member of Auburn Catholic Community at St. Philip’s Parish, Lewiston Lodge of Elks, American Legion Post 22, Lewiston, and a former member of the Lewiston-Auburn Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife, the former Theresa Soucy, of Lewiston, whom he married Nov. 24, 1955; a sister, Delia Czarnecki of Pawtucket, R.I.; a sister and brother-in-law, Alfred and Bernadette Coulombe of Saco; his nieces and nephews, and their spouses, Marybeth and Mark Varney, Mark and Valerie Coulombe, Michael and Cindy Coulombe, Annette Coulombe, Angela and Andrew Woznica, and Patricia and Kevin Cook.
