CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Shaquille O’Neal had 32 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Miami Heat to their fifth straight victory, 97-87 over Charlotte on Friday night.

Amid speculation the Heat are set to bring back center Alonzo Mourning after he was waived by Toronto earlier in the day, O’Neal, clogged up the middle, shooting 13-of-21 in powering the Heat to their ninth win in 10 games.

Damon Jones added 22 points despite playing on a sprained ankle for the Heat, who return home to face San Antonio on Sunday in a possible NBA Finals preview.

76ers 106, Raptors 91

TORONTO – Allen Iverson scored 30 points to help the Philadelphia 76ers beat the struggling Toronto Raptors 106-91 on Friday night.

Kenny Thomas added 21 points and eight rebounds, and rookie Andre Iguodala had 16 points and eight rebounds. Philadelphia, coming off consecutive losses, outrebounded Toronto 47-33 and outscored the Raptors 20-0 on the fast break.

Jalen Rose had 23 points for the Raptors, who have lost four straight.

Rockets 91, Pacers 83

INDIANAPOLIS – Bob Sura scored 17 points and the Houston Rockets won their sixth straight game, holding the Indiana Pacers to a single point in the final 7 minutes in a 91-83 victory Friday night.

After trailing by 15 points, Indiana rallied to tie it at 82, with Reggie Miller hitting two 3-pointers. But the Pacers missed their final 12 shots as the Rockets pulled away in the closing minutes.

Indiana still had a chance after Jeff Foster hit one of two free throws with 2:51 to go, but Houston clinched the game with a free throw by Tracy McGrady and two foul shots by David Wesley.

Spurs 101, Nets 91

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Bruce Bowen and the San Antonio Spurs couldn’t get Vince Carter off his game, so they did the next best thing – they got him kicked out.

Tony Parker scored 17 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, and the Spurs took over after Bowen got Carter so angry that he picked a second technical foul with 9:45 to go in the Nets’ 101-91 loss Friday night.

Carter, who scored 43 points on 14-of-24 shooting, became so enraged after tangling legs with Bowen after missing a jumper that he screamed at the Spurs’ forward and walked menacingly toward him with 9:45 left.

Grizzlies 88, Blazers 82

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Stromile Swift scored 23 points, and Mike Miller added 22 in the sluggish Memphis Grizzlies’ 88-82 victory over Portland on Friday night.

Swift also had eight rebounds before leaving the game with 5:45 left after banging his left knee. Miller was 4-of-8 from 3-point range and 9-of-14 overall to help Memphis win its third straight and sixth in the last seven.

Portland, which led by 12 early, scored only 13 fourth-quarter points. The Trail Blazers were 5-of-19 from the field in the quarter and turned the ball over five times.

Nuggets 106, Cavs 101

CLEVELAND – Little Earl Boykins scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half to overshadow another Carmelo Anthony-LeBron James matchup, leading the Denver Nuggets to a 106-101 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.

Hornets 111, Warriors 108

NEW ORLEANS – Rodney Rogers scored 20 points and Bostjan Nachbar had 19, leading New Orleans to a 111-108 victory over the Golden State Warriors that ensured the Hornets would not match the NBA’s worst record.

New Orleans got the benefit of a controversial call with 4.3 seconds left after Dan Dickau was trapped on an inbound pass and lost the ball. Richardson failed to control the loose ball and rookie J.R. Smith dove on it, calling timeout as he slid out of bounds.

Referee Michael Smith gave New Orleans the timeout, drawing vehement protests from the Warriors, who trailed 109-108.
