SOUTH PARIS – Hazel L. Sweatt, 92, of South Paris, died Friday, Feb. 11, at the Market Square Health Care Center.

She was born in Bryant Pond, June 21, 1912, the daughter of John E. and Mary E. Farnham Dwinel. She was educated in the local schools. On Dec. 2, 1939, she married Erwin A. Sweatt of Errol, N.H., in Bethel. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Myrtle’s Restaurant in Errol. For several years, she worked at the Diamond Match Mill in Peru. Later, she went with her husband on logging operations, in various places.

During World War II, she, along with her husband, worked at the New England Ship Building Corporation in South Portland. After the war was over, they returned to South Paris, where she worked at the Burnham and Morrill Canning Factory.

Later in life, she helped in various capacities for the Auxiliary of Stephens Memorial Hospital working mainly in the coffee shop. She and her husband, were members of the Deering Memorial Methodist Church, where she attended UMW meetings, and served on the supper committee. She was a charter member of the Paris Cape Historical Society.

She is survived by her husband, of South Paris; one son, Reginald, and his wife, Joyce, of Norway; two grandchildren, Debra, and her husband, Michael Johnson, of Florida; and Reginald Jr., and his wife, Leslie, of Norway; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Molly, and Matthew Johnson, of Fla., Jake Sweatt, of Waterford, and Kadi Sweatt, of Norway.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Ethel, Carrie and Agnes.
