LEWISTON – Josephine L. Desjardins, 93, formerly of 126 Howe St., Lewiston, died Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Marshwood Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for almost three years.

Born in Canton on Oct. 8, 1911, she was the daughter of Lorenzo and Giovalenna Decosta Lavorgna. Educated in Canton, she was a graduate of Canton High School.

In 1935, she married Roland Desjardins, who passed away in 1962.

She was employed as a salesclerk for many years, both at Kresge’s, and in the sportswear department of Ward Bros.

A member of St. Patrick’s Parish, she had a lifelong love of family, and enjoyed eating out and traveling with friends. She was also an avid fan of reading, word puzzles, and sports, especially baseball.

Survivors include two sons, Roland “Sonny” Desjardins and companion, Judy Lavers, of Boynton Beach, Fla., and John “Jack” Desjardins and wife, Donna, of Lewiston; a brother, Louie of Seabrook, N.H.; a sister, Mary Chiaravelotti, of Wilton; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Desjardins and husband, Rob Rood, David and wife, Matie, Leslie and husband, Tony Fournier, Gayle Desjardins, Karyn and husband, Jim Blouin, and Eric and wife, Laura; and six great-grandchildren, Maria and Julia Fournier, Abigail and Katie Blouin, Devon Desjardins, and R.J. Rood.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Sebastian, Nick, Mike and Albert Lavorgna; and sisters, Alberta Drigotas and Ella Lisso.
